Consumers can learn over time the emotional and other skills related to building resiliency. For some clients with schizophrenia, bipolar or major depression, achieving these resiliency goals may be the first time they experience the sense of empowerment that comes hand-in-hand with feeling independent. Polaris-ROMS provides caseworkers with clinical decision support to help ensure that the symptomology needs and strengths of mentally ill adults are being addressed.
The process begins with an online assessment that can be completed in about 20 minutes. The Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA) is available for case manager completion.
ANSA training is available online to support accurate and effective rating of consumer problems and strengths. Real-time ANSA clinical reports are produced immediately upon completion of assessments and can be used to support treatment planning and monitoring. Specialized aggregate reporting is available as well.
The Polaris-ROMS Advantage
✔Enthusiastic Client and Staff Acceptance: In the most severely ill, 75 percent of clients were able to complete the assessment without staff assistance. Another 23 percent were able to finish with some assistance from staff. Consumers reported positive feelings about Polaris-ROMS: “I can see how I am getting better—that gives me hope, and I will continue here.” Staff reported it helped them better figure out consumers’ strengths, as well as how they are doing symptomatically.
✔Flexible and Easy to Use: Polaris-ROMS is designed to be flexible so providers can choose the assessment and reporting components that make the most sense for their practice. Software features allow for implementation in the field and at the clinic. Core software training takes less than one hour to complete, and specialized clinical training is also available.
